1. A proper winter coat — not just something that looks warm. 2. Waterproof, insulated winter boots — especially for snow and slush. 3. Gloves/mittens, toque + scarf — the small things you’ll regret forgetting. 😂 4. Learn how to layer properly — base layer, warm middle layer, protective outer layer. 5. Set up reliable weather alerts — because your plans can change very quickly in winter. 6. Understand your heating/thermostat — especially if this is your first Canadian apartment. 7. Prepare for winter commuting — know your transit routes, delays and backup options. 8. Get a snow brush + ice scraper if you drive — before the morning you actually need one. 9. Winterize your car — tires, battery, wipers and proper winter washer fluid matter. Transport Canada specifically recommends winter prep and washer fluid rated for very cold temperatures. 10. Have basic winter emergency supplies — especially at home or in your car. Canada recommends things like blankets, food, a flashlight and extra clothing for severe winter weather. 11. Budget for winter before it hits — coat, boots, heating, transportation and all the little purchases add up. #wintertips #canadianwinter #winterincanada #newtocanada #foryou

More than three quarters of Americans think Trump’s policies have raised the cost of living. White House correspondent Bo Erickson checks in with Autos correspondent Kalea Hall in Michigan, where a pending increase in US tariffs on steel and auto imports from Canada would be harsh for the industry. ⠀ #trump #donaldtrump #unitedstates #politics #election

CANADA IS CHANGING, AND PEOPLE ARE AFRAID TO SAY IT. It’s a weird feeling walking into Costco, Walmart, or other businesses in Canada and realizing you’re one of the only white people there. Sometimes, you look around and see maybe three or four others. You notice it in certain neighbourhoods, too, where many homeowners don’t appear to be white Canadians. And yes, it’s a weird feeling. I’m not going to pretend I don’t notice it just because people might call me racist for saying it. Immigration has changed the demographics of this country, and it’s happening fast. I believe immigration can be great when it’s done properly. When people are vetted, come here for the right reasons, contribute to society, and genuinely want to become part of Canada, that’s great. But let’s be honest. There are concerns about people taking advantage of our social assistance systems, relying on benefits, and making no effort to integrate into Canadian society. Instead, some seem to expect us to change our way of life to accommodate theirs. We’re seeing Muslim schools opening across Canada, and halal options becoming increasingly visible. Claims are also circulating that Costco is moving towards strictly halal meat, raising questions about consumer choice that deserve clear answers. Let’s remember that Christianity has historically been Canada’s predominant religious tradition. Our history and traditions matter, too. Why does it feel like we’re expected to accommodate every other culture while staying quiet about our own? At what point can Canadians question what’s happening to their country without being labelled racist? Canada is a country, not an experiment in how much change its citizens can be expected to accept without a say. You can support immigration and still believe it needs stricter controls. You can respect other cultures without wanting your country’s identity to disappear. You can welcome people who genuinely want to be here while questioning those who don’t. Why are we expected to stay quiet just to avoid offending someone? Canadians deserve a say in the future of their own country. Period. Like posts similar to this?
