this ramen restaurant in paris transports you to tokyo instantly!!! ive had this saved for ages and finally got to visit!! this is kodawari ramen tsukiji, from a paris ramen group founded by a former fighter pilot who trained at ramen school in japan. every branch recreates a corner of tokyo, and this one is the old tsukiji fish market (which closed in 2018), so everything here is fish based ramen! from the videos online i thought its a super cramped and noisy place but i was totally wrong!! the background sound is a real recording from tsukiji, yet the whole space felt pretty calm and tranquil, to our surprise!! the team have put so much effort into the immersive space that theres little details in every corner: polystyrene crates of fish, a wet look floor, menus pegged on a washing line and staff in fishmonger aprons and rubber boots. some props were apparently salvaged from the real market before it shut! the food has a bit of a french take on traditional japanese ramen, all made in house with no msg. we got the gyoza, served open on purpose so the skin came like a blanket over the filling (mussels, pork, chicken and pollock), yet it tasted surprisingly nice. for ramen we got the sea bream shio; the sea bream paitan; and the sardine bomb!! the grilled sea bream and sardines tasted sooooo soft and tender, and the noodles (made from their own wheat) were so chewy and bouncy with a proper wheat taste, which i absolutely loved. only thing was the broth, a bit too oily for all three ramen. we also got the mini matcha dorayaki for dessert, a collab with tomo, the dorayaki patisserie nearby! overall the food’s great but the vibes’ certainly 10000/10!! their other branches have different themes: yokochō is a tokyo back alley with chicken ramen (and the michelin bib gourmand), and the newest, ueno, is the eateries under the railway tracks at ueno station, with duck ramen. i’d certainly pay a visit next time!! save this for your next food hunt in paris!!
