Karl Bushby, 56, finally returned home to his mother's house in Hull, England on Monday after a 28-year long walking trip from Chile to the United Kingdom that spanned 31,000 miles. Bushby set out on his journey in 1998 in a quest to walk the longest possible unbroken route without using transportation of any sort other than his own two feet. Upon arriving home he reunited with mother, now 78, and his son, now 36. During his journey, Bushby fought through illness, some of the world's toughest terrain, and borders closed due to ongoing conflict. Bushy said of the hospitality he received during his trip, "I’ve met 99.9999% of the very best of humanity. Every culture, every country, has been the same response."
